I'm using a Motorola Moto G6 Play and Android 9. When the new app and firmware was recently released I successfully downloaded the app then upgraded the firmware by tapping the gray bar. The steam sound functioned correctly until yesterday. I've been installing and re-installing the micro SD card while working on horn sounds using Audacity on a desktop computer. Before removing card from the DULLHB I've always released the loco, exited the app and unplugged power to the loco.
Yesterday, while starting up with revised 0003.WAV and horn.txt files the app shows the diesel dashboard instead of the steam one like it did before. Re-booting the loco, changing the settings back to the default and uninstalling and reinstalling the app on the phone have not solved the problem. What should I do?
Is there a 'type.txt' present on the microSD? If yes, it should have a value of 1 inside it. The "type" is what will identify the loco type. Default or missing file or a value of 0 is "diesel" and 1 is steam. We will have more types like electric, etc. in the future. Hope that helps. Below is the excerpt from the e-mail sent out with the release of the update 2.35.
Instructions to enable steam functionality
Upgrade firmware to latest [0445 (0303)]
Download steam sounds. Goto Resources and download 'Generic Steam 01' sounds found under the Sounds section and install them to the microSD using the instructions provided on the page. After unzipping, you will notice the following files:
type.txt - missing file or value 0 is for diesel; 1 is for steam
0000.wav - blank
0001.wav - idle steam
0002.wav - blank
0003.wav - whistle
horn.txt - whistle params (see Quick Sound Editing Guide for more info)
0004.wav - bell
0011.wav - 4 chuffs [later customizable up to 8 chuffs]
chuf.txt - contains begin and ends of chuffs
Note: Steam sound editing guide to customize your own steam sounds will be available soon.
